About MUHAS.

The Tanzania Development Vision 2025 envisions using digital technologies or Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to facilitate sustainable socio-economic development. Furthermore, Tanzania Digital Health Strategy 2019-2024 strives to foster digital health transformation, strengthening capacities, public-private partnerships, research and innovations to promote the adoption of appropriate digital health interventions to address health systems challenges
The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is Tanzania's oldest and largest health sciences university, ranked 1st in Tanzania, 3rd in Sub-Saharan Africa, 5th in Africa and among the top 500 universities worldwide, per the Times Higher Education Magazine in 2023. MUHAS has memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with universities and organisations worldwide. Specifically, on digital health and innovations, we have MOUs with different institutions including Mälardalens University (MDU) in Sweden, and LM International (LMI), the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) in Germany, the Ministry of Health Zanzibar, Ministry of Health Tanzania,eGovernment Authority in Tanzania
To drive forward the digital health transformation journey in Tanzania, a multistakeholder partnership alliance coordinated by MUHAS in collaboration with the leadership of the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Ministry of Health Zanzibar (MOHZ), and the President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), LMI, MDU in Sweden, eGAand other partners. The objectives of the alliance are to support the implementation of the Tanzania and Zanzibar Digital Health Strategies1,2 and to provide a case study for other African countries on how the digital transformation can be achieved.
