MUHAS, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Ministry of Health Zanzibar (MOHZ), eGovernment Authority (eGA), PO-RALG, LM International, Mälardalen University (MDU), the Tanzania Health Informatics Association (TAHIA) and other partners, organised the 3rd MUHAS Digital Health and Innovation Week from 13th to 17th November 2023.

Theme: “Towards International Cooperation in Digital Transformation for a Healthier Population”.

The Forum was officiated by Hon. Dr. Godwin Mollel (MP), Deputy Minister for Health, on behalf of Hon. Ummy Mwalimu (MP), Minister for Health. Participants included parliamentarians, government officials from Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, development partners such as USAID and UNICEF, Health Tech Nordic delegations, academics, researchers, innovators, business representatives, secondary school students, teachers and the media.

The Women and Girls in Health Technology Workshop, themed “Bridging the Gap: Uniting Women and Girls in the Digital Futures”, brought together 30 girls and 3 teachers from three secondary schools, university students, junior staff and senior scientists to strategise on bridging the digital divide.

About the Event

MUHAS is leading a consortium consisting of a variety of digital health and innovation practitioners and stakeholders, including representatives from the Tanzania Ministry of Health (MOH), the Zanzibar Ministry of Health (MOHZ), the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), eGovernment Authority, LM International (LMI), Mälardalen University (MDU), Tanzania Health Informatics Association (TAHIA), and other key partners.
The innovation consortium is coordinating digital health transformation programs, including the 3rd MUHAS Digital Health and Innovation Week 2023 and the 3rd Tanzania Digital Health and Innovation Forum and Exhibition 2023.

A MUHAS-led digital health and innovation alliance in efforts to foster digital health research and innovations to promote the adoption of affordable and appropriate digital health solutions and services to address health systems challenges is organising the 3rd Digital Health and Innovation Week from 13th to 17th November 2023 at MUHAS in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

This event aims to create a platform for capacity building and awareness through presentations, exhibitions, boot camps/hackathons, demonstrations, and showcasing of digital health technologies and applications to address various health systems challenges.

The event brings together digital health practitioners, policymakers, and the MUHAS community, including teaching and non-teaching staff, students, medical staff, surrounding hospitals, and business delegates from Sweden and other countries. The forum is an excellent opportunity for innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and healthcare professionals to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas, network and explore collaborations, and learn about the latest technological advances in digital health.

The forum offers a rich and diverse program that includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions, featuring the latest digital health innovations and their potential applications in addressing health systems challenges. Attendees will have the chance to participate in hackathons and boot camps, and showcase their digital health solutions, and learn from experts in the field.

The panel discussion on technological advances and their usage to solve challenges in the health sector with panellists and different experts in the field of digital health is a unique opportunity to gain insight and perspectives from a diverse range of stakeholders. Attendees will learn about best practices, success stories, and lessons learned from implementing digital health solutions and explore the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
